On 20 September 2012, Shila became the champion of Asian Wave, a Chinese "reality singing talent show" held in Shanghai.[4] The show is similar to The Voice. Shila had the most online votes beating the other contestants. She sang three songs which is Jaclyn Victor's Gemilang, Bruno Mars' Grenade and Na Ying's Zheng Fu.[4] She also sang Wang Leehom's Forever Love in one of the prelimilary rounds of Asian Wave.[5] The judges praised her performance.[4]
The Star reported on 27 September 2012 that she was chosen to be in the opening act for a series of concerts by Eric Moo, a Malaysian award-winning singer-composer, in Beijing starting 17 November.[6] Shila said that she knows him because "he was one of the judges during the competition and his invitation is a huge honour for me."[6] She immediately agreed when he asked to be in his opening act.[6] The prize money of RM 5 million that she had in Asian Wave will be shared among her and the second and third place winners.[6]
Guang Ming Daily reported on 28 September 2012 that Shila will be collaborating with Wang Leehom. Shila's manager was planning to include all of the songs Shila sung at the Asian Wave in an album soon.[5] The manager is also still discussing with Shanghai Media Team Entertainment Group, the media company behind Asian Wave on Shila's singing contract.[5] She is making arrangements to improve her Chinese, a language that she learned from pre-school until Year Three.[5]
Shila was listed as one of the leading nominees in the World's Best Female Artist category beating 40 other great nominees in World Music Awards 2012. This indicates that Shila is now on par with Adele, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Madonna and a number of other big names. The awards ceremony, which recognizes artists on the album & track sales records around the world, though there are sites that have not been functioning for voting. The prestigious awards will be held at Marlins Park, Miami, Florida, United States of America on 20 December 2012.
